I make a ‘NYC ball drop’ out of charcuterie for New Year’s every year – we even hang it from the ceiling
WE’VE all heard about eating grapes at midnight on New Year’s but one woman has levelled up the snack game.
A mother-of-eight has shared the creative charcuterie board trick she uses to add a festive feel to her countdown.
In her video, Heather Bell (@justthebells10) demonstrated how to make an edible “NYC ball drop.”
The TikToker channeled the spirit of the Times Square celebration in her kitchen.
Heather began with a styrofoam sphere, which was the same size as a soccer ball.
She secured a rope to the ball with wires and wrapped it in aluminum foil for hygiene.
For her next step, Heather skewered various bite-sized snacks with toothpicks.
Her spread included cherry tomatoes, olives, strawberries, melon, blackberries, raspberries, grapes, and cubes of cheese.
She also added chocolate for anyone with a sweet tooth looking for a midnight treat.
Heather organized the foods into different rows and patterns until the entire ball was covered.
She then hoisted it into the air, hanging it above her kitchen island, adding a star as her final touch.
The family laid out their party food underneath the ball, which was to be gently lowered during the countdown.
TikTok users took to the comments section to share their thoughts on the food hack.
“That is a great idea!! Planning on doing this next New Year’s Eve!!!” wrote one viewer.
“Wow, that ball drop is epic,” said another impressed follower.
“I love all of your creativity, that charcuterie ball is my favorite. I wish I had that kind of patience to do that. Thank you for sharing,” commented a third person.
