Wedding guest shamed for wearing white slinky dress as everyone says she clearly wanted to be the ‘centre of attention’
EVERYONE knows there is one key rule when it comes to being a wedding guest – don’t wear white to the big day.
However, one stylish guest was spotted seemingly flouting the tradition by wearing a white, slinky dress for the ceremony.
An image was shared on Reddit by a person who spotted the wedding ‘faux pas’.
They wrote: “Sorry but is this not literally a white dress she is wearing as a guest to the wedding.
“Idc if the brand labels it as ‘sand’… it’s literally white to me, could easily be a second look reception dress.”
Many people agreed that it was too white to wear for a wedding, with one saying: “Red, blue, purple, pink, green, black……literally so many choices other than silver, oyster, sand, buff, white.”
Another added: “It’s not that hard to not wear white for one day.”
And a third commented: “Oh it is when you constantly feel the need to be center of attention apparently.”
The person who shared the image took particular issue with the dress as she said it was similar to her own wedding dress.
She wrote: “This dress is very similar in style and color-wise to my reception dress lol.”
However, one person defended the dress choice, saying: “It looks completely silver to me and I’d never take her for a bride in it.”
We shared how a wedding planner was fed up after noticing that four women showed up to the nuptials wearing white-hued dresses.
Her annoyance was so great that she couldn’t bite her tongue.
Wedding planner Cari Izaguirre (@cari.izaguirre) said there is no reason for a guest to ever show up wearing the same color as the bride.
Speaking about etiquette, she said in the clip: “You do not wear white to a wedding. Or a light ivory. You just don’t do it.”
Standing outside of a reception she organised, she said there were four people sporting looks that crossed the line.
“One is wearing a full-on wedding gown.
“So, I’m going to show you guys what not to wear when you go to a wedding because it is not OK.”
The first woman she filmed wore a knee-length frock that was a taupe and ivory shade.
Moving on to number two, Cari said that it was one of the worst she had seen.
With white lace flowers and a floor-length silhouette, the dress looked like it came right out of a bridal boutique.
