Toyota’s chief branding officer, Simon Humphries, said the company is “exploring new approaches to mobility that not only enhance the
Land Cruiser experience but also further people’s freedom in motion”.
He added: “Our customers trust in us to keep Land Cruiser relevant and thriving toward the future.”
The Toyota Compact Cruiser is set to capture the essential spirit if the Land Cruiser while appealing to a younger audience keen to break out of the city at the weekend.
The motor could potentially compete with the upcoming ‘baby’ Land Rover Defender and Mercedes’ ‘little’ G-Class.
A range of accessories including a roof rack, auxiliary lights and branch deflector wires should appeal to city workers keen to get out into the great outdoors at the weekend.
For some the motor’s stock build and design harks back to the original Land Cruisers of the 1960s.
It has been four years since the Toyota GR Yaris was produced and it is finally getting a haul of upgrades.
The hatch has been a hit with motorists and there’s been no shortage of demand for the Japanese car.
The new GR Yaris will have a lot more power than the original – with the turbocharged 1.6-litre three-cylinder now outputting 300bhp.
However, European cars will have less due to stricter emission regulations.
Fans of the Toyota GR Yaris will now get to choose between a manual or the highly anticipated DAT automatic.
A “reliable source” recently claimed that the motors giant will bring back the MR2 range in the near future, according to Japanese magazine Best Car.
The report stated that it would be Toyota’s last petrol-powered sports car before the brand shifts to its plans for an all-electric future.
The source suggested that it may be powered by the same engine which is found in the GR versions of both the Yaris and Corolla.
