Try my 3-ingredient mix with your Valentine’s flowers to make them last longer – it seems scary but I promise it works
A GARDENING expert has shared her homemade plant food recipe.
An unconventional ingredient in her three-step recipe was the key to helping her flowers last longer.
The expert (@fivefootfeminine) shared the trick with over 320,000 TikTok followers.
“Did you know adding bleach to your floral water makes them last longer?” she said.
“I know, it seems kind of scary but I promise it works.”
She explained that just the smallest dash of bleach in conjunction with a second ingredient worked wonders.
“Just add a tiny bit to keep the water germ-free plus some sugar to keep the florals fed,” she said.
She diluted 1/4 teaspoon of bleach into a 1/3 gallon of water and added in a tablespoon of sugar.
“Try this with your Valentine’s Day roses, I promise they’ll last ten times longer.”
Her viewers shared their testimonials for her hack in the comments.
“I’ve been doing that for years and it works great,” said one commenter.
“I do it every time I’ve got flowers, it really works,” said another.
Some joked that they didn’t need her trick, although they wished they did.
“Not me saving this knowing I don’t get flowers for any occasion,” quipped a viewer.
