Four-month-old baby dies & two women and man injured following horror head-on crash in Leeds as driver, 54, is arrested
A BABY has died and two women and a man have been injured following a horror head-on crash involving a car and a van in Leeds.
A 54-year-old man was arrested after the four-month-old boy died yesterday on Horsforth New Road near Rodley, West Yorkshire.
A Vauxhall Vivaro van travelling northbound came head-on with a Toyota Auris on February 12.
The fatal crash took place at about 4.55pm on the A1620 Ring Road between Calverley and Rodley.
As a result, a four-month-baby boy was left fighting for his life.
He was then rushed to the hospital where he tragically passed away on Wednesday.
Two women from the Toyota and a man from the Vivaro were also taken to hospital for treatment.
The collision caused a huge fireball in the middle of the road.
Highway workers had to fully close the area while emergency services managed the collision.
A 54-year-old male who was driving the Vivaro was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
He was released on bail yesterday as the investigation continues.
Cops are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.
West Yorkshire Police said: “Anyone who witnessed the collision, or who has footage that will assist this investigation is asked to contact the Major Collision Enquiry Team on 101.”

“I live near here and bad driving and busting red lights is a daily occurrence. When will you patrol as we never see police patrolling.”
Another added: “I travel that road regularly , looks like the van was in the wrong lane. Horrific for anyone involved.”
