I’m over 50 and my ‘soft smokey eye’ tip is life changing if you struggle with eyeliner – it only takes 2 minutes to do
EVERY woman has attempted a smokey eye look at least once in their life.
If your lack of eyeliner skills was previously an issue, a beauty pro has shared her secret.
In her video, Colette VanPaemel (@colettevanpaemel) showed her followers “a really soft smokey eyeliner look [that] literally anybody can do.”
“If you’re somebody who struggles with eyeliner, this is going to change your life,” the TikToker said.
Colette, who specializes in makeup looks for her fellow over-50 women, demonstrated her quick trick.
“Find yourself a brush that’s just a little bit fluffy at the end and you’re going to take a black cream liner,” she advised her audience.
Colette held up the makeup brush she was using for the tutorial and dipped it into the darkest shade on her palette.
“Take your fluffy brush, you’re going to tap the tip of it into your lash line,” she said.
She recommended “deepening it” if you want your smokey eye to appear darker.
“As we age, we don’t want anything too harsh,” Colette reminded her viewers.
“Take a little bit more of that, go right into your lash line, put a little in there, wiggling it between the lashes, getting rid of that dreaded gap.”
She also recommended using the same technique on the bottom lash line if you want a full smokey eye look.
“Just sweep it directly into your lashes, I’m using a really light pressure, hold the brush at the bottom, and then just sweep it on,” Colette said.
She showed her followers an optional step to take before moving on to mascara.
“If you so choose, I’m going to take a little bit of a brown eyeshadow and ever so slightly smudge it into the very top of that line,” she explained.
She then completed the look in two minutes, adding several layers of mascara to her lashes as a finishing touch.
“When you’re applying your mascara, you’re also going to want to wiggle it right at the base of your lashes,” Colette said.
