I’m a housekeeper – my $1 tip saves you time when ironing, gets creases out easily and lowers your electricity bill
JUST when you’ve finally finished all your laundry it’s time to tackle your ironing.
A housekeeper has shared the hack she uses to easily speed up the process.
In her video, Mbali Nhlapho (@mbalinhlapho7) demonstrated the technique she uses every time she irons linens.
She revealed that her hack helps to save money as well as time while ironing.
“Guys, did you know that placing a foil like this on your ironing board not only saves you a lot of electricity it actually saves you a lot of time?” the TikToker asked her audience.
As she prepared to iron her bedding, Mbali covered her ironing board in a layer of aluminum foil.
The $1 household staple is available to buy in most grocery stores, including Dollar Tree.
Mbali explained the science behind the simple trick and how it speeds up the ironing process.
“Placing an aluminum foil like this actually heats up an item quicker so that you get your linen nice and clean, nice and ironed, creaseless,” she told her viewers.
As metal is a conductor of heat, a layer of foil can increase the heating time of your iron.
By heating the iron quickly, you will be using less electricity to iron your clothes.
“Do this before placing on your ironing board cover,” Mbali advised her audience.
“You need to do this so that your iron will heat up quicker and your linen is nice and clean.”
