I’ve been paying electricity bill for my WHOLE apartment for 2 years, I just thought cost-of-living crisis was that high
WITH the cost-of-living crisis causing prices to soar, many of us trying to cut back on costs wherever we can.
So spare a thought for one woman, who was horrified to discover she’d been paying for her entire apartment’s electricity bill for two whole years.
In the clip shared to TikTok (@vapestar69), she explains: “So I just found out that I have been paying the utility bill for my entire apartment building since December 2021.
“I have been paying for everyone’s heating, laundry and lights, for two f***ing years.”
She goes onto say how she rung them up and queried the price after suspecting it was way to high for just her apartment alone.
“I called them when it was expensive to say ‘this seems really expensive’ and they were like, ‘that’s just how much it is,'” she says.
“And finally, we figured it out…
“It’s because my ex who moved out never cancelled their service – even though I asked him to like 10 million times.”
She captioned the post: “I just thought that the cost of living was that high!”
The post has since gone viral, racking up over 7.7 million views and several comments from horrified social media users.
“DUDE you better get that money back,” wrote one.
A second penned: “They better refund you!!!”
A third commented: “Same thing happened to me. Hydro was 350 a month for the tiniest place I rented. I called many times and said I think something is wrong here. I’m practically sitting in the dark here.”
Meanwhile, a fourth noted: “This video helped me figure out I was in the same boat.”
A further added: “THIS IS WILLLLDDDDDDD!”
And another chimed in: “Wait a min – I feel like this might have happened to me when I lived w my ex …the heating in winter was like &400 for a small one because condo and I just paid thinking it was normal and it must be bad insulation.”
