VERA fans have been left stunned as actress Brenda Blethyn unveiled a new job world’s away from the ITV drama.
The star, 77, has played the iconic detective on ITV1 for the past 13 years, solving fictional crimes.
But after the conclusion of the 12th series of Vera, Brenda has found herself a new gig.
The beloved star has been spotted as she officially opened a charity shop.
Brenda revealed she was invited to open the Shooting Stars outlet in Surrey and gladly accepted.
Writing on social media, she revealed: “So proud to have opened “Shooting Stars” Charity Shop in High St Godalming today.
“Staff delightful. and thanks to the many VERA fans who attended. much appreciated by me and the charity.”
Delighted fans flooded Brenda with replies thanking her for taking the time to speak to them – with one even skipping work fro the meet and greet.
One fan said: “Thank you Brenda for chatting to my autistic adult son Freddy today in Godalming. We are huge Vera fans xx.”
A second wrote: “Awww how wonderful. Glad it was a fab day xx.”
“Was lovely seeing you – even if we did risk getting the sack to sneak out of work,” said a third.
While a fourth commented: “I wish I could have been there. Glad it went OK. You are such a lovely lady.”
Meanwhile, Brenda left fans stunned when she revealed they’ll have to wait an entire year for new Vera episodes.
The actress had previously sparked axed fears recently before it was confirmed it would be back.
