Prince Harry’s bid for US citizenship would mean he’d finally have to GIVE UP royal titles
PRINCE Harry yesterday said he has thought about becoming a US citizen — even though he would lose his royal titles.
Experts said the duke’s shock revelation would be a final “burning of his bridges” with the country of his birth.
Asked on US TV if he would ever become a citizen there, California-based Harry said: “I have considered it, yeah.”
He added: “American citizenship is a thought that has crossed my mind, but it’s not a high priority for me right now.”
Harry, 39, married to American Meghan, 42, would have to take the Oath of Allegiance, which would require handing back his Duke and Prince titles.
It comes after the couple rebranded as Sussex.com with a new coat of arms.
Dad-of-two Harry, fifth in line to the throne, said of his new life: “I love every single day.”
Royal author Phil Dampier said: “This is another indication Harry sees his future in America.
“It’s almost as if they are trying to become quasi-American royalty.”
