Prince Harry becoming US citizen would be final two-fingered gesture to the King and to country he professes to love
PRINCE Harry says, “I love my family” in yet another American TV interview.
Pity he didn’t think like that when he trashed them during his chat with Oprah and in his book, Spare.
Now Harry is saying nice things about his father and it is good that he did not reveal any details of their brief meeting.
But there is a long way to go before the Royal Family will trust him again.
He might want to say something positive about his brother, William, and his sister-in-law, Catherine, and attempt to make peace with them.
I clearly remember Harry making a speech in which he said his role in life was to support his brother.
But now he says he has even thought about becoming an American citizen.
My advice to him is: Don’t do it, Harry, because it will give your father the excuse to take away your title, the Duke of Sussex — and it’s a title which clearly means so much to you.
I understand that his wife, Meghan, and daughter, Lilibet, are US citizens.
But Harry is a member of the First Family of the United Kingdom.
In my view, you can’t get better than that.
As an American citizen, Prince Harry would be just plain Mr Sussex.
And it also would be a final two-fingered gesture to the King, to the family and to the country he professes to love.
