Burnley vs Arsenal betting preview
Having closed the gap to leaders Liverpool to two points, Arsenal’s title challenge appears to be gathering pace again.
Last weekend’s 6-0 battering of West Ham made it four wins in a row with 16 goals scored in those matches.
A purring Gunners side arriving at Turf Moor isn’t what the doctor ordered for the hosts, who are now without a win in seven and are the owners of the league’s worst home record with just one win and nine defeats in 12 games.
Vincent Kompany’s men have shipped 27 goals in those matches; only Sheffield United have a worse figure and they have an 8-0 loss on their record.
It’s hard to make much of a case for Burnley stopping the Arsenal juggernaut here, especially after they lost joint top scorer Lyle Foster this week to injury.
But while there looks little value in getting with the Gunners at around the 2/7 mark, the sub-markets do offer some tempting bets with Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice both among our selections at tasty prices.
Read on to discover our best bets for the game…
Burnley vs Arsenal key stats
- Arsenal have the best away defensive record in the Premier League, conceding only 11 goals in their 12 games on the road, while only Man City have won more points on their travels.
- Since Burnley’s initial promotion to the Premier League in 2009, they have failed to beat Arsenal at Turf Moor, losing five and drawing three. Their one PL win over the Gunners came at the Emirates behind closed doors in December 2020.
- Declan Rice has produced three assists in four games since being moved onto corner-taking duty, replacing Bukayo Saka.
- Arsenal have scored more goals from set-pieces (16) than any other Premier League side this season, while only Nottingham Forest have conceded more from such situations than Burnley.
- Gabriel Jesus, Jorginho, Oleks Zinchenko and Takehiro Tomiyasu all missed last week’s demolition of West Ham and you wonder how many changes Mikel Arteta will want to make after that 6-0 romp. For Burnley, Lyle Foster is sidelined after undergoing surgery on a “chronic” muscle injury this week.
Burnley vs Arsenal best bets
Our best bets for Burnley vs Arsenal are below. The odds we use are from the best sportsbooks per our expert reviews. Odds in the bettings tips are also subject to change.
Bukayo Saka 5+ shots
Saka has been hitting some crazy shot numbers of late, landing this bet in four of his last seven matches.
He managed eight at West Ham last week and six in his previous away game at Forest, although both fell short of his tally of nine in the home game against the Hammers in December.
Only four teams have conceded more shots than Burnley so it’s not hard to see the England star getting more chances to let fly at Turf Moor.
Back Saka 5+ shots at 9/5 with Spreadex
Sander Berge 1+ shot
OK, Burnley are facing one of the best teams in the league here but getting odds-against about Berge hitting at least one shot still looks great value.
He likes to try his luck from range and Burnley may well be restricted to pot shots for long periods of this game.
Berge has landed this in five of his last seven and it’s interesting to note he’s had 2+ shots in four of those matches.
6/1 about 2+ shots is therefore also worth considering but we won’t get greedy and stick with the smaller price.
Back Berge 1+ shot at 6/5 with bet365
Declan Rice anytime assist
A change props punters should have noted has taken place at Arsenal in recent times with Rice becoming their main set-piece taker, Mikel Arteta citing the “huge quality in his delivery”.
It’s already paid handsome dividends with Rice managing three assists in the four games since the switch was made.
Arsenal lead the league for set-piece goals (16), while Burnley are second in the list for set-piece goals conceded.
This bet on the England international looks the best for this game.
Back Rice to assist at any time at 9/2 with Coral
