Love Island fans threaten to ‘switch off’ after ‘devastating’ Molly and Callum scenes
LOVE Island fans have threatened to “switch off”, saying they have “had enough”.
The threat came from viewers following last night’s “devastating” Molly Smith and Callum Jones scenes.
Molly and Callum were together for three years after meeting on winter Love Island in 2020.
They split last year, before being thrown into the Love Island All Stars villa as exes.
Since then, fans have been hoping they will get back together, but last night the former couple put an end to that speculation.
The latest episode of Love Island saw them sit down to have a conversation about the state of their relationship after rumours started flying around the villa that there was potential for them to get back together.
Molly and Callum’s current partners – Tom Clare and Jess Gale – were worried by the speculation and they decided to squash it by having a chat.
Callum asked why people think they will rekindle their relationship given they’ve only ever spoken in group settings and don’t spend time together one on one.
Molly responded that people have said it’s got something to do with “the way we look at each other”.
Her ex shook his head, saying: “That’s crazy.”
Both of them agreed that their co-stars only think they might get back together because they are handling living in the same villa so maturely despite having split up.
Callum shared that he is happy for Molly to be moving on with a relationship that he can see she is happy in, and she said the same to him.
Then they sealed the deal with a handshake – worried others would read too much into a hug.
However, some fans are still convinced the old flames are in love with each other, and were furious when the pair ended any chance of a rekindled romance.
One person wrote: “’m not even watching the end of love island, I’ve seen a clip Molly and Callum aren’t getting back together, I refuse to see Tom win, coz seriously!? There is no clear winner for me. I’m done, I’m sad but I’m done.”
Another echoed this with: “The fairytale has ended, might as well just stop watching the series now!”
This fan tweeted: “After watching the calls from home, and it seeming pretty evident that Molly and Callum will not be getting back together, I probably won’t be watching the last few episodes of Love Island. I was rooting for them.”
While this one bluntly said: “Ok I’m not watching this show anymore.”
Later on in the episode the exes had another conversation, this time about their current partners.
Callum tried to hint at Molly asking Tom to be her boyfriend, asking her if there was a particular phrase she thought she could say that would reassure him.
Molly made a face of disgust and changed the topic, making audiences at home suspicious that there was a reason why she didn’t want to make the relationship official with Tom.
And when the stars heard that one couple would get a chance to spend a night in the Hideaway together, Molly was quick to say her friend Arabella should have it, seeming uninterested in spending time alone with her man.
Love Island viewers picked up on this, screaming: “Molly not wanting to go into the hideaway….GUYS THE DELUSIONS BACK.”
Another chimed in: “Seen it all now. She defo doesn’t like Tom I can tell you that otherwise she would’ve said for her and Tom to go in the hideaway.”
