The best new TV and films to stream next week – from Can I Tell You A Secret to Avatar: The Last Airbender
A NEW month has dawned upon us, and with that comes brand new TV shows and films – with something for everyone in the family.
Here’s out top picks of next week’s upcoming gems across Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ and more.
NETFLIX
Avatar The Last Airbender – Available from Thursday
The 90s and 00s children will most likely remember the action-packed animated series of the same name, which told the story of the high-kicking adventures of a boy called Aang, a so-called Avatar blessed with the supernatural ability to control the four elements.
Netflix has now rebooted Aang’s story with live-action treatment in this incredible eight-part series.
The new show is essentially the same: four nations – Water, Air, Earth and Fire – live side by side with an Avatar, the master of all four elements, maintaining the peace.
However, when the warlike Fire Nation attack the Air Nation, and a new Avatar is needed, 12-year-old Air Nomad Aang (Gordon Cormier) takes the lead and sets off on a spectacular quest with his friends to defeat the evil Fire Lord Ozai.
Expect some epic thrills with shades of Lord Of The Rings, Crouching Tiger, and Hidden Dragon.
Formula 1: Drive To Survive – Available from Friday
Formula 1 may have become predictable throughout the years, but the team in this compelling fly-on-the-wall series always finds a way to deliver big surprises and shocks to keep the audience hooked.
This sixth series tells the story of the 2023 race season, and It’s no spoiler to admit that it turned out to be triumphant for ruling champ Max Verstappen and the Red Bull team, Drive To Survive,
But, exclusive behind-the-scenes access gives viewers a glimpse of the highs and lows experienced by those involved.
Mea Culpa – Available from Friday
Destiny’s Child icon and one-time X Factor judge Kelly Rowland will be starring in a tense, stylish and seductive legal thriller written and directed by Tyler Perry.
When cunning criminal defence lawyer Mea Harper, played by Kelly, is assigned to the case of a charismatic artist, Zyair, played by Trevante Rhodes – who’s been accused of murdering his girlfriend – she struggles to figure out whether he’s guilty or not.
As the case progresses, the pair grow closer, and the boundaries of their lawyer-client relationship become dangerously blurred as Mea suddenly finds that her own professional and personal future could be at risk.
Can I Tell You A Secret – Available from Wednesday
In this disturbing two-part documentary, three of prolific cyberstalker Matthew Hardy’s victims come forward and explain in their own words how he slithered his way into their social media accounts and made their daily lives a living hell.
The new series tells the story of how Matthew’s stalking had long-lasting and profound effects on his victims, which resulted in him being imprisoned for nine years in January 2022 after spending more than a decade harassing as many as 63 women online.
The forthcoming crime show also recounts the subsequent police investigation and how his victims helped to bring him to justice.
A shocking and worrying portrait of a modern twist on an age-old crime – but one that will raise awareness.
Rhythm + Flow Italy – Available from Monday
Some people might not be aware that hip-hop is huge in Italy, so this new series seems to make total sense.
The ground-breaking music competition Rhythm + Flow is to head to the streets of Rome, Naples and Milan in search of the next Italian rap superstar.
Acclaimed Italian hip-hop artists Fabri Fibra, Geolier, and Rose Villain will judge the series and ask hopefuls to prove themselves in rap battles, the production of original songs, and freestyle skills.
In every episode, the judges will be joined by guests from the Italian rap scene to help decide which artists deserve to progress. At the end, the winner will bag €100,000. Let battle commence.
Through My Window 3: Looking At You – Available from Friday
The third instalment follows the tragic and stormy events of the second movie in the series, which follows the intense relationship between Spanish teens Raquel, played by Clara Galle, and Ares, portrayed by Julio Pena.
The new roller-coaster romantic saga finds the lovebirds at a crossroads, unable to see a way forward, so they reluctantly decide to part ways.
But when they bump into each other again in the winter in Barcelona, it reawakens old feelings and desires – shock, horror!
APPLE TV+
Constellation – Available from Wednesday
Jo, played by Noomi Rapace, makes a miraculous escape back to Earth after a catastrophic accident happens in the International Space Station, where a team of astronauts have been working with a powerful experimental device.
However, back on solid ground and reunited with her young daughter, Jo realises that something isn’t right.
Meanwhile, dogged physicist Henry, portrayed by Jonathan Banks, appears to be hiding a secret involving an important device which Jo had.
The series has been described as nightmarish, disorientating and tense – so much so that it might take a full episode if not more, to get a good handle on what’s going on.
Messi’s World Cup: The Rise Of A Legend – Available from Wednesday
This new four-part documentary speaks with Messi himself, as well as teammates, coaches, rivals, fans and commentators, to tell the story of his life and glittering career, culminating with the 2022 World Cup in Qatar – which Argentina, captained by Messi, won.
The greatest of all time? maybe. A cultural icon, global hero and sporting superstar? Definitely.

The Family Stallone – Available from Thursday
The second series of Sylvester Stallone’s family’s fly-on-the-wall show is back!
From the beginning, it’s clear that the winds of change are blowing, with Sly and his wife Jennifer Flavin deciding to up sticks and leave Hollywood after many years, heading to the East Coast and Palm Beach.
The couple’s three daughters are also on the move too, with Sophia and Sistine relocating to New York City and Scarlet off to college in Florida.
The exclusive cameras follow the clan as they all start adjusting to their new lives.
The audience will be joining them on a very special holiday as they fly to Italy to explore family history, see the sights, and even meet the Pope.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch – Available from Wednesday
The third and final season of the animated new Star Wars series has arrived, and if you haven’t watched previous seasons, then it’s worth catching up with the first two series before diving into this one.
As the viewers get back to the action, the Batch (all voiced by Dee Bradley Baker) are trying to reunite with their friend and ally Omega (Michelle Ang) and to free themselves once and for all from their evil creators.
The rogue squad of clone trooper’s mission is to spend their time carrying out mercenary missions and evading the attention of the Empire.
The series starts with a drop of three episodes, followed by weekly instalments after that.

Summer House – Available from Friday
The eighth season of the drama-packed reality series is back, and following the events of the last time the gang was out at the house, there’s plenty of juicy gossip to catch up on.
For starters, there’s the explosive argument between Lindsay Hubbard and Danielle Olivera, which has raised the question of whether they will patch up their friendship or remain frosty.
And how will Lindsay and Carl Radke’s break up affect the pair and the dynamic among the rest of the group?
All will be revealed when the group – which also includes Paige DeSorbo, Amanda Batula, Ciara Miller, Kyle Cooke and Gabby Prescod, plus newbies Jesse Solomon and West Wilson – make their comeback.

Be prepared for a surprise, as these football WAGs are nothing like the ones on Footballers’ Wives and the Wagatha Christie saga.
This new fly-on-the-wall series meets five women – Sara Gündoğan (wife of Ilkay) Cat Harding (Jorginho’s girlfriend), Samantha Tarkowski (wife of James), Ash Turner (wife of Matt) and Taylor Ward (married to Riyad Mahrez), who are in relationships with top footballers but are also independent, confident and career-driven people in their own right.
The women will be giving the audience a glimpse inside their home lives, work, social engagements and relationships.
Giannis: The Marvelous Journey – Available from Monday
Giannis Antetokounmpo was born in Athens to Nigerian immigrant parents, living in poverty with his three brothers, until he became obsessed with basketball.
Now his remarkable story will be told on screen as he becomes one of the greatest basketballers of all time.
Featuring interviews with Giannis himself, along with his mother, his basketball playing brothers, fiancée Mariah and famous faces from the sport, this one-off documentary tells his inspiring life story.

Most people will assume that any house that’s described as being located in an ‘isolated’ area is most likely going to be haunted, right? It’s pretty much guaranteed.
