We gutted our living room and put in a media wall – trolls say it looks ‘naff’ because the TV’s so small but I love it
A WOMAN has defended her decision to put up a media wall in her living room, after she was trolled over the “naff” results.
Cait had initially shared a slideshow of pictures of the room transformation, as she showed her husband Lou “DIYing the media wall” with supplies from B&Q.
A friend from work came round to help them with Cait commenting: “I was so excited at this point.
“I could really see how the vision was going to come to life.”
The media wall was then constructed with plasterboard, before the TV and the new electric stove they’d bought were added.
The media wall was plastered and painted, and Cait said the final results were “stunning”.
“So happy with how cosy it is,” she added.
Not everyone was impressed with the results, however, with one commenting: “I just want to know the thought process behind the media wall?
“The tv is tiny and looks a bit naff!”
Cait then responded in another TikTok video as she said: “Not that I have to explain myself, but I’m going to explain why we put in our media wall, fake chimney breast, piece of crap – whatever you want to call it.
“And I’m not precious about what you call it.
“So many people were messaging me saying ‘it’s not a media wall’ but I don’t care!”
She added that she and Lou moved from a terrace house – their first home that they bought aged 20 – to this new home aged 24.
And when they moved to the new house, the furniture they bought with them wasn’t really enough to fill the room.
“We didn’t have enough, but I also didn’t want to fill the room with unnecessary furniture because we had what we needed,” she continued.
“But it was a very big space and I just wanted to make it cosier.
“We wanted to go for cottage vibes, which is why we put our electric stove in, which is why we made it look like a fake chimney breast.”
As for the television, Cait added: “A lot of people were saying that the TV is tiny in the space that it’s in.
“That was the TV we had before we built the media wall.
“The TV wasn’t broken and I wasn’t going to get rid of it because it didn’t fit the space.
“So we measured the space so we could get a TV that was like two sizes bigger than the one we’ve got now.
“Yeah it might look small in that space, but it’s not forever.
“We may as well create the space for a bigger one, and just get a bigger one when that one breaks.”
“It’s lovely to have a focal point in the living room!” one person commented on that video.
“Also it’s your house decorate it how you want and stuff other people’s comments!”
“You shouldn’t have to explain at all …looks amazing you should be very proud,” another said.
“Looks so cute and cosy,” a third praised.
