My washing used to take 2 days to dry but now I get it done in 6 hours thanks to an amazing machine – it’s a must buy
DRYING our clothes in the winter months is something every Brit dreads – where do we turn to when the outdoor washing line is out of action?
Nobody likes the unsightly clothes airer taking up space in the living room for days on end, and it’s particularly an issue when you throw bed sheets and towels into the mix.
But over the last few years, one nifty gadget has come to the forefront – the trusty dehumidifier.
A dehumidifier is an air conditioning device which reduces the amount of humidity in the air, duly helping dry clothes quicker.
And according to Mrs Hinch fans, one brand takes the cake.
Meaco dehumidifiers have received cult-loved status, according to Facebook group Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips.
But with the cheapest one on the market – the MeacoDry ABC10L 10L Portable Dehumidifier – costing £160, these are a hefty investment.
The MeacoDry Arete One 25L Dehumidifier & Air Purifier will set you back a whopping £300 in Currys.
Brits have assured the gadgets are worth the investment though, with one woman claiming she’s slashed her clothes drying time from two days to just six hours.
“We looked at quite a few and decided on Meaco,” Donna Lumb said.
“I was amazed at how much water it takes out when using it for drying clothes.
“My wash can now dry in six hours or less, depending on the thickness of the items on the airer, opposed to a day or two previously.”
Jenny Jones Hamblin echoed that she’s always “amazed by how much water her Meaco collects”.
Carolyn Hamer warned that it’s noisier than she anticipated but is “happy with it regardless”.
And investing in a Meaco won’t wreak havoc on your energy bill, according to the experts.
“Energy-efficient dehumidifiers have humidistats,” Chris Michael, air treatment expert and managing director of Meaco, explained.
“This means the machine will work towards reducing the moisture to the recommended indoor humidity level of 55% RH before switching itself off.
“It will only switch back on again if it detects a rise in humidity.”
As well as drying your clothes quicker, dehumidifiers will help keep damp at bay.
Drier air helps to control mould spores and dust mites, ensuring the toxic fuzz doesn’t spread across your home and make your family sick.
