Cancer treatment has completely knocked out my sex life – I may try Viagra
DEAR DEIDRE: I KNEW my cancer treatment would be invasive but I’m struggling with how it’s affecting my sex life.
My wife and I are in our forties. I’ve been having chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
One effect is that I can no longer get an erection unless I masturbate.
We have tried everything except medication.
Should I use Viagra? Or is there something else I can try?
It may not be a physical issue, because you are able to get an erection when you masturbate.

DEIDRE SAYS: However, the emotional effects of cancer can affect your sex life.
Many men worry about losing the ability to have sex.
This concern in itself can lower desire, and ability to have an erection.
Once it’s happened, your anxiety increases, and it’s likely to happen again, which causes you to get stuck in a cycle.
My support pack Solving Erection Problems should help.
I would also recommend that you speak to your doctor before taking medication.
