‘Full time mum’ sparks controversy as she shows her daughter patiently waiting IN the room as she gets a sunbed
A MUM has sparked fierce controversy online after it emerged that she left her daughter waiting in the room with her whilst she went to get a sunbed.
Ellie shared an insight into her trip to the sunbeds via a video posted to her TikTok channel @111elliej.

“When you need a sunbed but you’re a full time mum”, she said.
Ellie then turned the camera around, to show her young daughter sitting on a chair in the tanning room, waiting patiently for her mother to finish.
Under the Sunbeds Act of 2010, anyone under the age of 18 is banned from using a sunbed.
Not only this, but children are also banned from entering “restricted zones” which include the rooms that the sunbeds are kept in.
Ellie’s video has clearly left many openmouthed, as it has racked up over 2.5 million views.
TikTok users raced to the comments section to share their thoughts on Ellie’s decision.
What are the dangers of using sunbeds?
Sunbeds give out ultraviolet (UV) rays that increase the risk of skin cancer.
Many sunbeds give out higher doses of UV than the tropical midday sun.
Young people are at greater risk from using sunbeds, which is why it is illegal for under 18s to use them.
UV rays can also cause damage to your eyes, causing problems such as conjunctivitis or age-related cataracts.
The Health and Safety Exectutive (HSE) advises that you should not use a sunbed if you have fair skin, have a history of sunburn, have lots of freckles or moles or have a history of skin cancer in your family.
One user said: “We get fined £1000 here if a child is found in the sunbed room with us”.
Replying to the comment, another person said: “Yeah it’s illegal and my local council do spot checks/secret shoppers too. They’re very strict about it.”
Another person said: “The salon I go to doesn’t allow this because of the exposure to UV rays”.
A fourth person remarked: “They don’t allow that at the salon near me”.
Replying to this comment, Ellie said: “They don’t allow it here to be honest”.
However, a shocking number of commenters admitted that their parents had taken them into the tanning room with them when they were younger.
One user said: “My mum used to do this with me”.
Another user said: “This was my whole childhood.”
