‘Too much main character energy, you’re not the bride’ people say as groomsman’s girlfriend shows wedding guest dress
A WEDDING guest has found herself brutally slated after showing off the ”main character energy” frock she was planning on wearing.
If you’ve ever attended a wedding, you will know just how stressful it can be to find the perfect outfit – which is why one woman took to Reddit to see what others thought of her dress.

Sharing a snap of the maxi dress, the woman wrote in the recent post: ”I’m in love with this dress but don’t know if it’s appropriate.”
The outfit – which she’d ensured would go with the ”formal” dress code – was a sheer nude dress with gorgeous black floral detailing all across the material.
Underneath the top maxi top layer, which was flowy at the bottom, was a figure-hugging mini dress sitting around the mid-thigh area.
The stunning lace dress was completed with the so-called spaghetti straps, as well as a plunging V-neckline, showing off the model‘s décolleté.
The fashionista, who said she ”wished” there was another colour option, added in the comments: ”My boyfriend will be wearing a tux because he’s part of the bridal party.”
But sadly for the style lover, the dress choice was soon brutally slammed and criticised by fellow Redditors, who flocked to comments to share their opinion.
One said: ”I don’t think that’s it, sorry. Maybe a dress with more black would be better?
”And a less visible lining would be a major improvement.”
Meanwhile, others reckoned the frock was a little bit too OTT, as someone else penned: ”Nope. Too much main character energy. You’re not the bride.”
”Black on black would be okay, but as pictured, hard “no”,” another chimed in.
After being stated by other social media users, the wedding guest – who then agreed that the dress was ”not appropriate” – revealed she would be continuing her search for the perfect outfit.
She wrote: ”I needed confirmation from some other people that this actually is too much and I’m not just overthinking it as I have a tendency to do. I’m not gonna get it, sadly.”
Bridal expert reveals the must-have trends for 2024
Event whizz Tsitsi Lynn Makuni claimed that mini gowns, wearing bows for tying the knot and donning bold accessories are among this season’s must-haves for marriage, The Sun reported earlier.
RING THE CHANGES – brides are opting for not one, but two dresses.
HITCH UP THE SKIRTS – short dresses were a huge hit at the Scottish Wedding Show’s October Catwalk and Tsitsi said more bridal boutiques are now offering shorter styles.
BRIGHT NOT WHITE – white and ivory dresses are no longer a given as more designers offer pastel options, and we will see a demand in more bold colours too.
BE BOLD – the accessories, too, will be as bold as our dresses. Expect to see dramatic headbands, pearl-embellished veils, elegant gloves and retro sunglasses.
TAKE A BOW – from small bows on headpieces and shoes to oversized bows on dresses, this is a wedding trend that’s showing no signs of slowing down, the expert revealed.
Although the black lace number may not be the right pick for the ceremony, the woman chuckled, confessing she still had her eyes on it – and she may purchase the dress for another occasion.
”I may or may not have an email alert for when it drops below $150 [£118].”
Although this may vary from wedding to wedding, typically, in the Western world, it’s an unwritten rule that a wedding guest should not wear a white outfit on someone else’s big day.
Unless the bride has specifically asked the guests to sport light – and even white – colours, this is usually deemed as bad taste, as some may assume you’re trying to steal the spotlight.
