I thought I’d found the perfect wedding guest dress on Asos… but everyone says it means something very rude
FINDING the perfect wedding guest outfit isn’t easy – especially with so many rules to follow.
And one woman has been warned against the wedding guest dress she picked out for upcoming summer weddings.
Grace Maria took to social media to show off the stunning dress which she modelled for viewers.
“Just found the most beautiful spring wedding guest dress ,” Grace added.
The bright red dress was from ASOS and set her back £72.
The dress had an open back with tie string detail as well as a halter-neck design in the front.
The gorgeous floor-length gown had ruffles over the chest area as well as at the bottom to create a stunning shape.
No red to a wedding
TikTok user
Grace decided to accessorise the dress with some large gold earrings and wrap-around gold heels.
But it seemed not everyone agreed it was acceptable to wear to a wedding.
The clip posted to her TikTok account @gracemaria.x went viral with over 880k views and 34k likes.
People couldn’t help but put in their two cents on the wedding guest dress.
And many claimed the colour red had a very rude meaning when worn to a wedding.
One person wrote: “You look absolutely stunning!! I know it’s eye roll but I think wearing red as a wedding guest means you’ve had a fling with the groom.”
Another commented: “Never wear red on wedding.”
“You cannot wear red out of freaking wedding,” penned a third.
Meanwhile a fourth said: “I love red but was told recently if you wear red to a wedding it means you’ve slept with the groom!”
“No red to a wedding,” claimed a fifth.
Someone else added: “Old wives tale about sleeping with groom aside, I think wearing bright red to a wedding is a bit ‘look at me’.”
