I’m a BBC presenter and the studios completely transform how our outfits look on screen – it’s like magic
BBC Weather correspondent Abbie Dewhurst has shared a ‘magical’ mind-boggling video which shows how the BBC studio’s green screens completely transform outfits.
The BBC Look North presenter posted a video of the strange screen transformation on her official Instagram account.
In the clip, which reads “How the green screen distorts some of our outfits,” Abbie can be seen donning a long floral yellow maxi dress and a full face of glam as she presents her weather segment in front of the green screen.
A smaller screen pops into the frame, showing the weather news animations as the BBC host continues to deliver her lines, but this time around, her dress has changed to a deep orange colour.
She captioned her post: “ It’s magical, but it’s also strange.”
Fans quickly took to the comments section and shared their amusement at the magical green screen-changing effect.
One user teased: “Reminds me when South East Today used a green screen before the new set was installed, and everyone looked like they were dipped in creosote!”
Another praised: “Don’t know how you do it with nothing to relate to when you are showing different areas!”
“Quite like it in orange, though,” commented a third, while someone else jokingly teased: “Does it distort the weather too?”
Meanwhile, a fifth user wrote: “That’s very weird. Also makes you look more tanned.”
Last month, the weather report stunned fans after sharing a rare behind-the-scenes clip of her ‘broom cupboard-like’ TV set.
In the Instagram post, Abbie revealed to her 31.2K followers the temporary set-up put in place for filming the latest instalment of BBC North West Tonight.
In the clip, the camera panned across a small office space and then into another space that had been transformed into the famous red sofa newsroom, with the words “Check out this temporary ‘broom cupboard’ style BBC News studio.”
