I’m a pro hair stylist – my tip will find your best cut, plus the face shape that can pull off any look
A HAIR stylist has shared her take on flattering cuts for every face shape.
One lucky face type had the card to pull off any style their heart desires.
Chantelle, a hair stylist, explained that she used her clients’ face shapes to determine their best hairstyles[/caption]Chantelle (@beautyby__chantelle) shared the hair advice in a viral TikTok video.
The professional put together a guide to help beginners determine the best hairstyle to complement their face shape.
She recommended using tools, like a TikTok filter, to figure out what face shape you have.
The trick, she explained, was to find a style that “counteracts” your shape.
Those with round face shapes, for example, will not look flattering in round styles as the cut would give the illusion of a shorter face.
“You want something that’s going to elongate your face,” she explained.
For those with rectangular or square-shaped faces, she recommended getting bangs to “soften” out their sharp corners.
She advised diamond face shapes to opt for long hair with pieces to frame the face or short “shaggy” cuts that emphasized their strong cheekbones and bone structure.
Her vision for heart-shaped faces included bangs and soft face framing or even a bob.
Oval face shapes, she revealed, can do it all.
“I’m not going to get too much into oval face shapes because you guys can pull off any haircut,” she said.
Viewers who watched her video agreed that her advice is helpful if only they could figure out the hard part — determining their shape.
Many struggled to identify their shape even with the help of her filter idea.
“I couldn’t tell if I’m a diamond or an upside-down triangle,” said one commenter.
The Best Haircuts For Each Shape
Round: Long bob, long hair with long layers
Rectangle: Soft side bangs, long layers with a fringe, medium-length hair
Square: Long layers with a fringe, wispy bangs
Oval: Any haircut, long layers, blunt bob, face-framing
Diamond: Long hair with soft face framing, short shaggy haircuts
Heart: Above shoulder bobs, blunt bangs
“Man, I was just starting to accept I will never figure out my color season and now I need to grapple with not knowing my face shape either,” said another.
“My toxic trait is I think I can fit a few shapes and never can tell which one, circle, oval, square,” said a third.
Chantelle explained that it was normal to feel that you don’t perfectly fit into any of the face shape slots.
“It’s common to fit into multiple face shapes!” she replied.
“It looks like you’re either an oval or even a diamond because you have nice cheekbones.”
For viewers who felt that they were in between an inverted triangle or diamond shape, she explained the difference that separated the two.
“An inverted triangle is going to have a wider forehead than their chin, whereas a diamond is going to have a wider middle part of their face, like their cheekbones,” she said.
