Susanna Reid takes cheeky swipe at Piers Morgan as they reveal playful rivalry years after GMB
SUSANNA Reid has taken a cheeky swipe at Piers Morgan three years after he sensationally quit Good Morning Britain live on air.
Piers, 59, walked off the set of GMB in March 2021 and never returned following a huge bust-up with Alex Beresford.
He co-hosted the show with Susanna, 53, for six years prior to his exit, with the duo building up a close friendship on and off screen.
Piers is currently in Los Angeles with his eldest son Spencer, 30, who took to Instagram to share a clip of his dad being a sore loser at table tennis.
Commenting, Susanna wrote: “The irony.” But Piers insisted: “I won the match.”
But Susanna cheekily replied: “Sure you’re not spinning the result?”
Just months after he quit GMB, Piers joined The Sun as a columnist and TalkTV host.
Susanna and Piers have always insisted they remained “very good friends” after the show and she previously told us: “I read Piers Morgan’s columns religiously.
“He has very strong opinions about things and I’m glad to see that hasn’t changed.”
She continued: “I’m still in touch with him, in fact it was his birthday yesterday and we’re still in touch and I’m sure I will be meeting up again soon, we’ve had a drink since he left… he’s still a very good friend.”
Susanna recently said an emotional goodbye to another colleague as Ben Shephard quit to join This Morning with Cat Deeley.
Ben, 49, later paid tribute to Susanna and wrote on Instagram: “Only seems like yesterday when @susannareid100 and I first sat next to each other at the GMB desk.
“So many memories, so many moments but so many laughs. Thanks for putting up with me, helping me, guiding me and mostly laughing with me. I’ll miss you and those moments on air, but know we’ll have plenty more off air!”
