We’re celeb declutterers Amanda Holden & Rochelle Humes swear by… our 10-minute trick is a life-saver for busy mums
THE kitchen may be the heart of the home, but that doesn’t always guarantee it gets the attention it needs.
If your space would give Gordon Ramsey nightmares, interior and organisation experts the Style Sisters can help make it feel like home again.
For anyone who isn’t following Charlotte Reddington and Gemma Lilly, prepare to meet your new favourite influencers.
Better known as the Style Sisters, these domestic goddesses have made over countless homes and specialise in digging through celeb clutter.
From Rochelle Humes to Rita Ora and Amanda Holden, the duo have help transform their spaces and even share life behind the scenes on their Instagram.
However, even fame and fortune won’t necessarily stop the clutter from building up.
“We are all guilty of it…that accumulation of things. A lot of celebrities are so busy that they just don’t have the time to [sort through things],” Gemma told Fabulous.
She added: “A lot of them feel guilty [because] they get sent stuff they’ve not asked for, which is an absolute privilege, but what do you with this stuff?
“Nobody wants to face the clutter on their day off.”
It seems celebrities really are just like us, with new research by Wickes suggesting that most Brits have a whopping £185 worth of appliances that go unused in their kitchen.
Having surveyed 25-34 year olds, the home improvement firm found that a whopping one in ten people have yet to use the air fryer that is sat on their countertop.
With all this extra clutter, it is no wonder that 31 per cent of Brits admitted to feeling stressed when their kitchen is disorganised.
It also why Charlotte and Gemma have teamed up with the retailer, in a bid to banish the clutter once and for all.
But you don’t need fancy jars or tools to get your space straight.
Gemma explained: “Organisation has become such as [desirable] lifestyle but there are a lot of unnecessary products [and] they are a bit of hindrance.”
When it comes to decanting your products into pretty containers – like Mrs Hinch or Stacey Solomon – they’re not fans.
While glass jars might look gorgeous in your cupboard, the interior experts urged fans think about whether solutions like these realistically ‘work for your lifestyle’.
Even the sisters admit that they’ve fallen foul of these trends, with Charlotte admitting: “I got these toothpaste and mouthwash dispensers.
“It all looks good but then you’ve got to refill that.
“People’s lives are so busy…not everyone has the luxury of squeezing toothpaste for like ten minutes into a dispenser.”
Instead, the Style Sisters want to take the stress out of getting your home sorted – especially your kitchen.
Charlotte said: “An organised kitchen means a calmer space for everyone.
“There are simple hacks, such as owning a spice rack and having an allocated snack drawer, that will always remain a part of kitchen organisation 101”.
As for busy parents, the easiest way is to get kids involved and treat a 10 minute tidying session ‘like a game’ – according to the sisters.
“Make it almost like a fun game, like ‘I’m going to time you [and] see how many toys you can get in the basket,” Gemma added, saying that her clients use this hack with their kids.
While you might not ever have a perfect home, you can certainly clean up your act with these tips.
Top tips
Having transformed countless spaces, here are the Style Sister's keeping your kitchen organised.
Snack time: If your little ones are keep attacking the snack cupboard, Charlotte and Gemma suggest using boxes or dividers to keep it organised. You can think about how accessible they are too, especially if you are regularly left with a ton of empty crisp packets.
Cut-lery the clutter: Most people use a cutlery organiser but Wickes has a range of extendable ones to keep longer utensils in place too. You might also rethink about how you arrange your cutlery to maximise space.
Go go gadgets: Devices like air fryers are great, but they can create extra clutter on counter tops. Think about how regularly you are using them and relegate any you don’t use that often to the cupboards. You can always get them out later.
Spice up your life: Rather than keeping spice in a rack or losing them in your cupboards, it might actually be better to pop them in a drawer closer to the hob. Not only will you not lose them, you are more likely to use them too.
Pop up: Sockets can be an issue, especially in a small kitchen. Consider whether a pop up socket might work on your counter top, so you are always ready for some impromptu baking.
