I saved over £750 transforming my boring privacy glass using a bargain buy – it’s given my bathroom a whole new look
LET’S face it, privacy glass can be pretty boring and not always that private.
But one savvy woman who knew she wanted to upgrade her bathroom with “something a bit different” has told how she did just that – and saved herself an impressive £750 in the process.
Rather than forking out thousands on a stained glass window, she instead decided to transform her home with ease using a £23.75 bargain buy.
How? Well, she simply applied Purlfrost’s Zircon Art Deco Stained Glass Window film, which features a stunning sun-set inspired design, to her bathroom window – and people can’t get over how good it looks.
In her post shared to Instagram, Kate of @my_littlewood_home revealed how anyone can apply the mood-boosting addition to their home – and save themselves over £750 on a real stained glass in the process.
Sharing a video of the impressive before and after, she penned: “I’ve never used a window film before – not going to lie, I was terrified especially because I had to reach over the sink!
“But I’m super chuffed with the result and I did find it pretty easy to apply!”
And for other amateurs, Kate shared a few of the top tips she learned along the way.
“When you order from @purlfrost enter your measurements to the nearly mm – I didn’t have to trim any excess off here because I did that!” she began.
“Definitely follow the instructions and clean the window. And then check it again after you’ve sprayed the slip solution – a fly got in the mix of mine which could have been a nightmare!”
The DIY whizz went on to advise spraying plenty to give it more time to position the film.
“Quickly remove the bubbles, with the tool they supply, and then check and go over it again, and don’t be afraid to apply pressure,” she noted.
“Then wipe with the damp cloth.”
She went on to suggest checking it after 30 minutes and says she found more bubbles she’d missed that she could remove – and voilà!
So it’s little surprise the video, which has since racked up an impressive 1.4 million views, was quickly flooded with comments, with many praising the genius idea.
“Such a great idea,” praised one.
A second enthused: “That looks fantastic!”
A third penned: “Oooh this looks incredible Kate! I might need one for our bathroom.”
Meanwhile, a fourth wrote: “Omg waheyyyy look at this!!”
And another chimed in: “Oh WOW!! I LOVE THAT!”
