I don’t want my Drunk Elephant obsessed daughter ruining her delicate skin so I found a £1.99 way to keep everyone happy
IT’S becoming the norm these days for young girls to adopt complex skincare regimes.
But one mum who was desperate for her daughter not to ruin her “delicate skin” with adult skincare products has come up with a clever way to ensure everyone’s happy.
Zoe took to the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group to share the hack, as she explained that her little girl is “obsessed” with Drunk Elephant and the Aldi dupe, Dizzy Panda.
“For those with little ones wanting the drunk elephant dupe who like me don’t want it on their delicate skin!” Zoe wrote.
She then revealed that she’d decided to empty the Dizzy Panda Peptide face cream and replace it with something else.
Instead of the moisturiser, which is packed with “eight powerful peptides”, Zoe turned to a well-known children’s skincare brand.
“I’ve emptied out the dizzy panda and refilled with Child’s Farm (£1.99 home bargains),” she explained.
“She’s happy, I’m not worried about skin damage, win win!” Zoe concluded.
The Child’s Farm cream she used was a fragrance-free moisturiser that’s suitable for even the most sensitive skin.
The importance of sun cream in your skincare routine
Dermatologist and skincare enthusiast Andrea Suarez - known as Dr Dray - revealed why you should wear suncream.
The one thing you can do that will make the biggest difference – and this matters for all ages – is protecting your skin from the sun, Andrea stressed.
“The vast majority of external aging is due to exposure to ultraviolet radiation,” she continued, not because you’re “not using some jazzy serum or layering 90 different things on your face everyday”.
“If you’re not doing in your 20s, get on that now.”
But she said the use of sun cream alone doesn’t go far enough. Andrea urged that you also wear sun-protective clothing like broad-brimmed hats and long sleeves, on top of not staying out too long in the sun.
Doing this over your lifetime – and all year, not just during the summer or on sunny days – “will reduce the visible signs of photoageing”, Andrea said.
Those are wrinkles, muddled pigmentation and sagging skin.
Zoe added in a comment on the post: “She wanted the Drunk Elephant after her older sister showed her – definitely not at that price!
“Then she asked about the Dizzy Panda.
“Just thought it was an easy option as she now thinks this is what she’s getting.
“The whole top unscrews so very easy to empty.”
“Absolutely genius,” one person commented on Zoe’s post.
“It’s scary the things young girls are putting onto their faces now.
“Outside of moisturiser and cleanser teens don’t need anything else.”
“I done the same for my girl she loved it,” another added.
“I don’t get why people are letting their 8-12 yr olds use things like that,” a third wrote.
“It contains retinol etc. This is a such good idea.
“And before any one says ‘oh but it’s what teens want’, I know. I have a teen and she’s told no as it will damage her skin at the age of 12!
“She can have some nip and fab teen or some simple skincare.”
“It’s all TikTok crazes,” someone else commented.
“Too much pressure on young girls these days.
“My daughter is 12 and wants all the top brand skincare – toothpaste, hair care and make up, it’s crazy.
“I had Nivea and a heather shimmer lipstick at her age!”
