I was a first female stockbroker – it was thanks to my ex making me get a job… I divorced him as soon as I got rich
NIKKI Haskell made history when she became one of the world’s first female stockbrokers aged just 26.
Now, the 82-year-old has revealed how the position came about after her ex-husband allegedly “told her to get a job”.
When the cash started rolling in and Nikki discovered her newfound independence, she says she filed for divorce.
“I divorced him because I was making enough money to do my own thing,” she recalls.
“I was making my own living, paying my own bills and having a great time.”
Before that, she had been a stay-at-home wife and living an atypical life to the average Sixties woman in affluent Beverly Hills in California, US.
But after her divorce, Nikki upped sticks and set about making a life for herself in New York.
Despite her age, the financial whizz has become a social media sensation thanks to her frank advice videos and sharing snippets into her interesting life.
She calls herself The OG Influencer and has amassed a whopping 525,000 followers on Instagram alone.
“It never entered my mind that there weren’t any women on Wall Street,” she recalled in a reel about her fascinating career.
“But since I had made so much money by mistake when my husband told me to get a job, I thought, ‘maybe I’ll become a stockbroker’.
“A friend of mine owned a brokerage firm and he hired me.”
As well as her historic career on Wall Street, she hosted The Nikki Haskell Show on primetime TV in the US during the early Eighties and released diet pills in the 2010s.
Nikki started posting on social media to relive her glory days and school younger generations.
Her Gen Z fans have hailed her a “boss chick” and vowed to “live like this one day”.
“Your twenties are supposed to be crazy,” Nikki reassured them in one video.
