MAFS star reveals tips to help couples survive ‘make or break’ relationship milestone and avoid a messy split
MARRIED At First Sight star Paul Brunson has revealed his tips to help couples survive one big ‘make or break’ relationship milestone.
Paul, 49, has shared his expert advice to couples jetting off on their first holiday together this year – to avoid a messy split.
It comes after a new study found that nearly two thirds of young couples find it can be a turning point in the relationship.
And, according to Paul, it’s not without good reason.
He explained, “A first trip away together is an exciting but nerve-wracking step for most new couples.
“There can be anxiety about spending so much time alone together that it reveals potential annoying or unusual habits to one another… or even worse, the ick.”
According to research, the three biggest fears for new couples on vacation include snoring while sleeping, farting in front of a partner and sharing a bathroom.
Turn offs directed towards their partner, however, included discovering their weird habits, seeing how messy they are and finding out they FaceTime their family every day.
Age also plays a role, with younger couples typically embarking on holiday adventures sooner in their courtship compared to older counterparts.
As a renowned matchmaker, Paul has collaborated with TUI BLUE to categorise couples into four distinct holiday personas, each with unique preferences and experiences.
From ‘adventurous spirits’ to ‘creative epicureans’, ‘cultural connossieurs’ and ‘romantic relaxers’, Paul has advised couples to identify which category they fall into before jetting away.
Offering up practical advice to alleviate stress and enhance the holiday experience, his suggestions include prioritising quality time over trivial matters and minimizing digital distractions.
Paul also recommends engaging in novel activities based on shared interests.
Aside from appearing on Married At First Sight UK, the love guru has also put his matchmaking skills to the test on the E4 show, Celebs Go Dating.
Other TV shows Paul has appeared on include, Lorraine, Oprah Winfrey Network, Good Morning America, The Wendy Williams Show and Sunday Brunch.
On his website, the TV host describes himself as “the world’s most influential matchmaker”.
Aside from this, the self-proclaimed ‘’influential matchmaker’’ is also the author of the bestselling book “It’s Complicated (But It Doesn’t Have to Be): A Modern Guide to Finding and Keeping Love”.
He also holds a degree in business and started his own matchmaking firm the PCB Agency in 2009.
As well as forging a successful career, the relationship expert has also been lucky in love.
Paul is married to his wife Jill, who he wed in 2000.
The pair met while attending Old Dominion University in Virginia, USA. They have two sons together, Liam and Kingston – and Paul often takes to Instagram to share sweet snaps of the family together.
