Mrs Hinch reveals 24p hack that’ll banish dishwasher odours for good – and it works in an instant

A DISHWASHER is a very handy appliance that most of us rely on to clean our dirty dishes.

But with such regular use, chances are food and grease will build up over time, which, if not addressed, can stop the appliance from working less efficiently and cause a bad smell.

Plus, it could also end up costing you a small fortune, too.

So, if your dishwasher has run its cycle and you’re not met with the smell of clean and sanitised plates, then look no further!

That’s because Mrs Hinch has revealed the 24p product she swears by for tackling unwelcome odours – and you’ve likely already got it in your kitchen cupboards.

In a recent post shared to her Instagram stories, the cleanfluencer, whose real name is Sophie Hinchcliffe, posted a snap of herself pouring a mystery substance into her dishwasher.

But while some of her social media followers mistook it for laundry detergent, the 34-year-old was quick to clear up any confusion.

“Nope not laundry detergent guys I promise,” she wrote.

“It’s just a capful of bicarb nothing else.

“It gets rid of any odours in the dishwasher.”

The bargain buy, which can be bought for as little as 24p from supermarkets, is most commonly used in baking, but is also an effective cleaning agent.

So, how exactly do you use it?

Speaking to Southern Living, dishwasher seller Amanda Poole commented: “You can sprinkle one cup of baking soda on the floor of an empty dishwasher and run a short cycle on the hottest setting without detergent to clean the interior and kill odours.

“As with cleaning a dishwasher with vinegar, skip the drying cycle and let the dishwasher air dry.”

She goes on to say that using vinegar and baking soda are quick and effective ways to clean inside a dishwasher, but warns not to use them at the same time.

Instead, she advises cleaning with vinegar first, before following on with the baking soda.

It comes weeks after mum-of-two Mrs Hinch delighted fans by revealing her new Vacay Vibes cleaning range with Home Bargains.

Amongst the items includes laundry detergent and washing pods that all have the summery scent of orange blossom and coastal cypress.

Taking to Instagram to reveal the exciting news, she told fans: “I’ve been so excited to share this.

“If you’re loving my Vacay Vibes scent you’re gonna love this”.

It wasn’t long before delighted shoppers said they were already “obsessed,” with one writing: “Vacay Vibes is the best one I have used!!! Keeping doing the washing just so I can smell it around the house.”

A second questioned: “No way!! I’m literally obsessed with the vacay scent. When do all these come out and are they available to buy now?”
