Stop making a wasteful lawncare mistake – I’m a pro and you’re robbing your grass and missing out on free fertilizer
A GARDENING pro has spilled the beans on the top no-nos when it comes to caring for the yard.
He said certain wasteful practices could sabotage a green thumb’s efforts.
Craig Elworthy of Get Lawn Bright gave The U.S. Sun his tips on keeping your yard pristine.
His advice works for DIY projects, making it an option that won’t break the bank.
Elworthy stressed the importance of avoiding techniques that could be a waste of money.
He also warned of ignoring “shortcuts” and what to do instead.
CAREFUL LAWN
First, he recommended tips for cheap ways to keep the yard looking its best.
“Stop bagging your clippings,” he said.
“You’re robbing the lawn of nutrients and organic matter, which help the lawn thrive.”
He gave an alternative with what to do with excess material from the yard.
“Instead, mulch the clippings back into the lawn. It’s like a free fertilizer application every time you mow.”
THROW IT IN THE BAG
Elworthy also advised how to save money when bringing a lawn to life.
First, he recommended avoiding certain social media trends, which could be hurting plants.
“Don’t fall for the lawn influencer telling you that you can achieve their perfect instagram lawn with a couple easy DIY steps, or buying their products,” he said.
“There’s no shortcuts in lawn care, and chances are they spend enough time working on their lawn that it’s a full time job.”
He offered another way to look at taking care of plants and gardens.
“Instead, approach lawn care as a hobby — something that should be enjoyable and relaxing.”

He also gave advice for using moss when keeping a yard looking fresh and green.
“You can use a light cover of peat moss if you’d like, but don’t overdo it,” he said.
