Meghan Markle’s acting career is dead despite Netflix wanting ‘pound of flesh’ – everyone’s ‘had enough’, warns expert
MEGHAN Markle’s acting career is dead despite Netflix wanting their “pound of flesh”, according to a royal expert.
Channel 5’s royal correspondent Simon Vigar spoke on The Sun’s Royal Show about whether we could see former Suits star Meghan returning to TV screens.
Meghan played paralegal Rachel Zane on the hit legal show for seven seasons with her last ever Suits episode airing in April 2018 – just a few weeks later on May 19, 2018, she became Duchess of Sussex.
Simon said to The Sun’s royal correspondent Matt Wilkinson: “I think the media career or relighting the screen career as an actress, I think that’s a long shot because you can never see her as a character, now you’re gonna see Meghan, the Duchess, so that’s difficult.
“How can you believe that she’s anybody else other than the person we know so well?
“And as I understand it, with Netflix, they still have a deal there who are going to want their pound of flesh.
“I think Harry still has a book deal as well where he said he’s not going to talk about the past anymore.
“Well let’s see how that goes.
“Because they’re going to want their pound of flesh as well in terms of the stuff that he says he’s held back.”
Simon added that Meghan is currently busy raising Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet, two, but she may have more free time for projects once they are in school.
He added: “That clearly is the priority but once they’re at school and off doing more stuff, and need less constant care, then I’m sure the media career will grow then.
“It’s hard to see it in fiction though, in being an actress, I can see it more in factual.”
The Duchess of Sussex has announced she will launch a new Netflix series on “cooking, gardening and friendship”.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex reportedly have two untitled non-fiction projects in production.
The shows form part of the “creative partnership” Archewell Productions signed with the streaming giant in 2020.
The first series will focus on Meghan and explore “the joys of cooking, gardening, entertaining, and friendship”, according to Deadline.

The second series will follow the couple’s love of professional polo.
The couple launched their documentary Harry and Meghan in 2022, offering an insight into their relationship.
Released in two parts, the explosive docuseries lobbed bombs at The Firm – seeing it torn apart by royal experts.
Meanwhile, royal fans have been given their first glimpse at Meghan’s lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard, including one product that could be available.

The Duchess of Sussex has delivered several beautifully-packed gift baskets of jam to friends and influencers before the launch.
Several close pals have shared photos of their pre-launch promotional baskets, including fashion designer Tracy Robbins.
According to a report from Page Six, Meghan’s company will focus on home, garden, food, and general lifestyle content.
What is Meghan Markle’s new business?
Meghan Markle has launched a new Instagram brand called American Riviera Orchard.
Industry insiders said the site will focus on home, food, garden and lifestyle goods.
A source told the Mail: “It’s a lifestyle and cooking brand called American Riviera Orchard.
“The brand is meant to coincide with the launch of a new cookery show for Netflix.
“Meghan will be making, and selling, products such as jams. And at some point there will be a book and blog etc.”
The brand will reportedly sell home goods, such as cookbooks, food and kitchenware.
A trademark application for ‘American Riviera Orchard’ showed Meghan could sell cutlery, decanters, legume-based spreads and even napkin rings.
This follows Meghan, 42, closing her former lifestyle page, The Tig, in April 2017, shortly after she started dating Prince Harry.
