Britney Spears ‘upset & dejected’ after reaching settlement with dad who controlled her life for 13 years
BRITNEY Spears is “upset and dejected” after failing to hold her dad accountable for controlling her life for 13 years.
Lawyers reached a settlement over her conservatorship last week, and she must foot dad Jamie’s £2million legal bills.
But The Sun can reveal the reason it didn’t go to court was over fears the 42-year-old singer would be put on the stand and made to relive her most embarrassing moments.
Amid concerns for her mental health in 2008, she was put under a conservatorship — her dad then managed her financial and personal affairs.
It was in place until 2021.
A source said: “Britney urged her lawyer to push the case Jamie effectively stole money from her.
“[But] her legal team decided the focus should be on protecting her from reliving the traumas of her conservatorship.”
In a statement in court in 2021 before the conservatorship was revoked, she said: “My dad and anyone involved in this conservatorship, including my management… they should be in jail.”
Britney and Jamie are yet to comment on the legal settlement.
