Music legend Dolly Parton aims to make even more money with clever new business move after success of dog clothes range
DOLLY Parton is bringing out her own range of wine.
The US country music legend, who sang about pouring herself a “cup of ambition” in her 1980 single 9 to 5, has been developing her vino in the States.
Dolly, 78, registered the trademark in America, as well as at the Intellectual Property Office in the UK.
A source said: “Dolly is always looking at new ways to reach her audience and thought her own wine was a swell idea.
“She isn’t a huge drinker herself but she likes to have something special when she does fancy a tipple.
“She has been involved in developing the wine and is excited for it to hit the shelves.”
It is hoped the product will launch later this year, despite the fact Dolly previously said she rarely drinks alcohol.
In 2019, she told NME: “I never did do drugs or alcohol.
“I do drink if I’m out on a special dinner and when I fly ‘cos I don’t like to fly, so I usually have a couple of glasses of wine, but for the most part I’m just not much of a doper or a drinker.”
It comes off the back of the success of her canine clothing range, Doggy Parton.
Dolly, who appeared on Beyonce’s No1 album Cowboy Carter last month, follows a long line of singers to have launched their own wine brands.
Take That’s Gary Barlow launched his range from Spain in 2021, while Kylie Minogue created her hugely-lucrative plonk the previous year.
From 2022 to 2023, Kylie Minogue Wines sold £25million worth of booze across the UK, while her sparkling rose became the nation’s best-selling pink prosecco.
