I’m a pro cleaner & there’s seven things I’d never have in my house – a popular feature is a breeding ground for cobwebs

WHETHER it’s annoying customers or being underpaid, we all have pet peeves about of 9-5 day jobs.

But while many of us bite our tongues, one social media user, who is a professional cleaner, has given a detailed break down of the things people have in their homes that really wind her up.

In a clip shared to TikTok (@cleanwithjg), she says: “7 things I would NOT have in my house as a professional cleaner.”

So if you’re looking to move house or renovate some time soon, you may just want to take note…

First up, the cleaning guru begins by taking issue with homeowners who have “fancy toothbrush holders” that feature several different compartments.

She asks whatever happened to the normal basic ones, before pointing out that the more complex toothbrush holders are “so tricky and time consuming to clean.”

Next up on the pro cleaner’s hit list are homes that have huge sun roof windows.

While they may be a great feature when it comes to making a room feel bright, light and airy, according to the expert, they’re also a “breeding ground for cobwebs.”

And for anyone looking to renovate their kitchen, the cleaner has a word of advice – particularity when it comes to choosing the kitchen worktop surface.

She explains how in her opinion, there’s something that doesn’t feel particularly hygienic about a wooden worktop surface.

Not only that, but she points out that if you leave a food stain on there for too long, that’s at least 10 minutes you’re going to have to waste giving it a good old scrub.

Moving on, the pro cleaner notes that a common house feature that gives her mixed emotions are mirrored light switches.

She admits that while on the one hand, they’ll show up finger prints so you’ll know exactly how dirty they get, she adds that they’re a bad idea if you have OCD.

Not stopping there, the cleaning guru reveals that built in blinds are another pet hate of hers.

She points out that blinds are hard to clean, adding: “They also build up so much dust and again, they’re a breeding ground for cobwebs.”

Professional cleaner

When it comes to another pet peeve of her job, the cleaning whizz explains how she can’t stand when homeowners place beds next to windows.

That’s because few people consider the fact that cleaners such as herself will need to climb onto the bed to clean the window.

And last but not least, she says she’d never own a tall black bathroom radiator.

She urges that these should be avoided by all homeowners who live in a hard water area because limescale stains will become a nightmare.

It wasn’t long before the post went viral, garnering a whopping 63k views and several comments from homeowners.

“Ahhh my bathroom is all black taps/ shower etc. I also have a radiator similar and there’s some water marks I just can’t shift! Any tips?” asked one.

“I’m quite savvy with my cleaning but they are a HUGE regret.”

Another social media user advised: “Use vinegar on the hard water stains. You may need to soak it, but it’ll help!”

A third commented: “Sunlight windows are so worth it! I don’t mind cobwebs!”

Meanwhile, a fourth discussed the toothbrush holder and noted: “I actually own this!

“And you can remove the insert and wash all the pieces! I love plastic for the kids bathroom.”
