He said that now is the perfect time to plant plant lawn seeds, adding that he did his last week.
Jonny explained that before you get started, you should mow your lawn and then scarify it, which is the process of removing dead thatch from the top of the grass.
You must then decide whether you want to use top soil or lawn dressing.
Jonny said that his preferred method, is to mix lawn seed (available at Amazon for £6.99) with lawn dressing (around £10 from Amazon).
After the seed is nicely mixed together, Jonny said that the next step is to spread it evening across your lawn, using a rake or shovel.
“Make sure it’s not too thick, just enough to cover the grass blades”, he said.
To make sure that the lawn dressing is even, Jonny recommended using a large piece of wood to smooth it out.
After the dressing is all nicely evened out, Jonny said that you must keep it watered for the next few weeks.
He said: “If you let your seed dry out, it will not germinate”, he warned.
The gardening whizz said that within a few weeks, fresh grass should start to grow.
Jonny said that by following his tips, you will achieve a “lush, green lawn”.
