Major telecoms provider is giving away free sunscreen worth £17 while stocks last – and you don’t have to be a customer
A MAJOR telecoms provider is giving away free sun cream worth £17 – but you’d need a secret code to grab one.
O2 is giving consumers a 10ml tube of Green People’s Age-Defy Daily SPF30 moisturiser along with a handy case to keep your skin safe in the sun.
Customers have been rushing to selected O2 stores to get their hands on the organic sunscreen – which is gluten-free, vegan and non-whitening.
While O2 has confirmed all the initial stocks for the skincare product have run out, they said they had more than 800 packs available for customers.
So it is still worth going to the stores and asking if they have any free sunscreen left.
All you need to do is visit the selected stores across the UK and use the secret phrase: “Don’t get burned.”
The offer is first come first served – and one does not have to be an O2 customer to enjoy the freebie.
The selected O2 stores are:
- London: 120 Oxford St, London W1D 1LT
- Cardiff: Unit Lg10, St Davids, St Davids Centre, Cardiff CF10 2ER
- Edinburgh: 129 St James Crescent St James Quarter Edinburgh EH1 3AD Scotland.
- Belfast: 14-16 Castle Ln, Belfast BT1 5DA
- Birmingham: 24 New St, Birmingham B2 4RQ
- Manchester Market St: Unit 5, 39 Market St, Manchester M1 1WR
The aim of the initiative – backed by The British Skin Foundation – is to get holidaygoers to pay as much attention to their sun protection as they do to their mobile phones.
A poll commissioned by O2 found 65 per cent prioritise packing their phone over sunscreen.
Among those who do apply sunscreen, almost one in 10 (8 per cent) said they only do so when they feel they might be burning.
The importance of sun cream in your skincare routine
Dermatologist and skincare enthusiast Andrea Suarez - known as Dr Dray - revealed why you should wear suncream.
he one thing you can do that will make the biggest difference – and this matters for all ages – is protecting your skin from the sun, Andrea stressed.
“The vast majority of external aging is due to exposure to ultraviolet radiation,” she continued, not because you’re “not using some jazzy serum or layering 90 different things on your face everyday”.
“If you’re not doing in your 20s, get on that now.”
But she said the use of sun cream alone doesn’t go far enough. Andrea urged that you also wear sun-protective clothing like broad-brimmed hats and long sleeves, on top of not staying out too long in the sun.
Doing this over your lifetime – and all year, not just during the summer or on sunny days – “will reduce the visible signs of photoageing”, Andrea said.
Those are wrinkles, muddled pigmentation and sagging skin.
