The clifftop campsite overlooking one of the UK’s best beaches – and you can even spot dolphins swimming
A CAMPER claims to have stumbled across the best campsite in the UK, saying that life “doesn’t get any better” than her stay.
Camping is a great way to enjoy the country’s nature, while also keeping holiday costs down.
One place where Brits can do both is Porth Iago in Wales, which camping enthusiast Eve Winstanley claims is the best site to pitch up to in the UK.
She shared a video from the site, overlooking Porth Iago’s white sand beach, with clear blue seas.
She described it as the “perfect spot” for some of her favourite water sports and said it exceeded expectations from the photographs she had seen before arriving.
In a video she shared on Instagram (@evejwinstanley) she said: “I’ve stayed at a lot of campsites whilst I’ve had the van, but this one has been at the top of my MUST VISIT list for some time now.
“I really didn’t expect it to be as picturesque as all the photos. But wow, my new favourite location!
“The perfect paddleboard spot and sunset spot all in one!
“We cooked some good food, had a bottle of prosecco, swam and paddleboarded and then watched the sunset all from our home on wheels. Does life get any better than this?”
One of her followers replied: “Looks incredible this does.”
Another said: “Looks stunning. We were only looking at this place last night.”
A third added: “Oh my gosh need to visit.”
The site in question is simply named Porth Iago Camping and can be found on the cliff behind the beach.
In order to pitch up for the night, guests have to pay to enter on arrival, with a machine accepting card or cash payments.
However, it is also possible to pre-book camping using the contact details found via the site’s Facebook page.
Pitches are limited to prevent it from becoming overcrowded.

When visiting any campsite this summer it’s important to make sure you’re not making simple mistakes that could ruin your holiday.
Check your tent
David recommends putting your tent up a couple of weeks before you’re due to travel to give you enough time to repair or replace any damaged parts.
He told Sun Online Travel: “You’d be surprised how many people turn up with broken tents.”
Test the ground
Picking a good spot to pitch your tent is difficult, with lots of things to consider.
One of those should be the condition of the ground you’re putting your tent on top of, according to David.
He said: “Once you’ve found the perfect spot, test the ground with your pegs before you commit to camping there to make sure the ground is soft enough.”
Don’t nap in your tent
It may seem the perfect place for it, but a nap in a tent could end badly, if it’s done at the wrong time of the day.
David explained: “If the sun’s shining and it’s hot inside your tent – don’t do it!
“One of our friends nodded off in his tent during a heatwave at Glastonbury and ended up at the medical tent with heatstroke.”
Instead, he recommends finding some shade outside or somewhere well ventilated.
The beach it overlooks is very highly rated as well, with The Travel Hack suggesting it could be the best beach in North Wales.
They wrote: “It’s a beautiful sandy cove with the most gorgeous water and golden sand.
“It’s enclosed so it’s sheltered from the wind and it faces the sunset.”
As well as beautiful sunsets, visitors can also sometimes see dolphins swimming in the sea surrounding the bay.
The Nottingham Post wrote: “Porth Iago in Wales is a secluded beach on the western tip of North Wales which was a popular spot in the 1970s and has recently become popular once more.
“You can sometimes see dolphins from the beach as well as breath-taking sunsets.”
