Why was six afraid of seven? Ask the tweenagers who won’t stop saying both numbers, to the abject confusion of their parents. Even the middle-schoolers of South Park are obsessed with saying “six-seven.” The meme, which began with the song “Doot Doot,” by Skrilla, and blew all the way up to Kai Cenat’s Twitch stream marks a firm divide in generational comedy. Anyone above 14 years of age doesn’t understand it, and everyone below thinks it’s the funniest thing they’ve heard all year. What do Trey Parker and Matt Stone have to say about it? Below, the teaser for season 27, episode six of South Park.

In just a 15-second trailer, the series manages to capture the range of emotions brought on by this meme. Parents are outraged and confused, being told, “Your students appear to be in some kind of cult involving the numbers six and seven.” Terrifying but true. Then, the clip cuts to a bunch of kids, led by Cartman, excitedly shouting “six-seven” with the requisite hand motion. No further explanation necessary.
