Report: Iran has tested an ICBM that could reach eastern U.S.
A new report on social media reveals that Iran claims to have tested an intercontinental ballistic missile that has a range to reach eastern United States.
The claim comes from Mehdi Seif Tabrizi, an Iranian professor and expert on Russia.
He wrote, on a X account that, (translated), “It is said that Iran, with Russia’s approval, carried out its first test of an intercontinental ballistic missile with a range of 10,000 kilometers. This test was carried out (i.e. aimed) towards a point in Siberia, Russia.”
A report from the Middle East Media Research Institute explained, “According to the post, the missile test was carried out with Russia’s approval. The post included a video of the missile test.”
The report noted, “It is likely that the ICBM was launched from the IRGC missile base in Semnan, from which the distance points to Siberia is some 6,000 kilometers.”

It explained Tabriziz was interviewed “by regime mouthpieces” and his comments appeared on the Iranian Foreign Ministry publications as well as its council of Foreign Relations.
“It should be noted that with a range of 10,000 kilometers, an ICBM launched from Iran can reach the east coast of the U.S., including New York and Washington, D.C. The release of news about the test of this ICBM with this range at this time is apparently connected to Iran’s attempt to deter the U.S. from attacking it, against the backdrop of President Trump’s warnings following the Iranian regime’s brutal oppression of the recent protests.”
