WATCH: U.S. senator perplexed why Gavin Newsom is in Germany, James Woods provides unnerving answer
U.S. Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., is wondering aloud why Democrat California Gov. Gavin Newsom is attending the Munich Security Conference in Germany while many victims of the catastrophic Palisades Fire are being blocked from rebuilding their property.
And now Hollywood actor James Woods, whose home was spared by the catastrophic blaze, is providing an answer.
Scott posted a video of himself on Saturday addressing Newsom in Germany, saying: “Gavin, I hope you’re having fun in Munich. I don’t understand why you’re going to Munich and not going to the Palisades and talking to the victims.”
Woods proffered a response to the perplexed senator, saying it’s not difficult to figure out.
“It’s very easy to understand, Rick,” Woods said Sunday. “He isn’t showing up for victims of the Palisades fire because he and his cronies want to buy up the land as cheaply as possible.
“The only way to do that is to exhaust many of the elderly homeowners who are dispossessed because of his criminal negligence.”

The Palisades Fire is the most destructive blaze in California history, killing 12 people and razing more than 6,800 structures after erupting in the Santa Monica Mountains of Los Angeles County on Jan. 7, 2025.
Both Newsom and Democrat Los Angeles Mayor have come under fierce attack from victims and President Donald Trump not only for not taking proper precautions to prevent the disaster, but also their glacial pace in allowing affected property owners to rebuild on their scorched land.
Meanwhile, Newsom posted video of himself in Germany Friday night, calling America “a wrecking ball.”
“The rest of the world sees America as a wrecking ball. They see us as unreliable,” he said on X. “Let’s be clear: Donald Trump is temporary. States like California are permanent. We’re stable. We’re reliable. We’re long-term partners.”

There is plenty of reaction to Newsom’s European jaunt, with one commenter saying: “When Gavin Newsom compared American federal workers to Nazis did he realize where he was speaking? Munich was an early center of the Nazi movement and as a result by the end over war fewer than 300 Jews were left alive.”
