U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, a member of the House Homeland Security Committee, addressed the bloodshed at the bar, and blasted Democrats in Congress as “grossly irresponsible” for delaying funding for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
“In my back yard just last night,” he told Harris Faulkner of Fox News, “we had an event that possibly could have been terror-inspired right here in Austin, Texas, the same city where the would-be assassin of the Saudi ambassador in the Georgetown restaurant came out of. This concerns me on the homeland front with regard to sleeper cells in the United States from Iran to hit the target list.”
Amidst a heightened threat environment, it’s grossly irresponsible of Democrats to hold up funding for the Department of Homeland Security.
I spoke with @HarrisFaulkner about my experience with Iran and why this funding is so critical: pic.twitter.com/Grhw9nIcQx

“I see it as a real threat across the country, and it is so irresponsible to hold up that funding.”
