Midweek European action brought about a lesser-spotted smile from Jose Mourinho and a goal from Olivier Giroud, setting us up for a seamless return to Premier League life. We may not see either again for another six months.Liverpool welcome Fulham to Anfield this weekend as they attempt to get their show back on the road following a draw at Arsenal and midweek defeat in the Champions League to Red Star Belgrade. It’s not so much about Liverpool welcoming Fulham, though, as it is fantasy managers becoming giddy at the prospect of FPL favourite Mo Salah adding to the 29 goals that the Cottagers have already conceded this season.Elsewhere, we’ve frisked the fixtures to look ahead at Gameweek 12…Sell! James Maddison, Leicester, (MF, £6.9m)Owned by: 13.4%Leicester boss Claude Puel has ruled out Maddison ahead of their home fixture against Burnley, stating that his No.10’s injury is “not too serious but he will not play this game. It’s his knee, damage in the ligaments behind his knee.”It’s with a sense of regret, then, that Maddison makes the sell section this week. Over the years there has been a distinct pattern emerge in relation to fantasy points scoring: if a player is injured and doesn’t play, there’s a direct correlation with not scoring points. Groundbreaking.Recent weeks haven’t produced the FPL returns that Leicester’s midfield maestro was managing at the start of the season – no goals or assists from his last four fixtures. Already, some bosses were starting to lose patience despiteMaddison being seventh across the Premier League for key passes this season, with 2.4 per game. Now the ligament buzzword has been uttered, though, more than 200,000 have already dropped the England hopeful ahead of Gameweek 12.Buy! Johann Berg Gudmundsson, Burnley (MF, £6.0m)Owned by: 3.3%With Maddison out this week there’s a spot to fill in midfield, and multiple options around his price range depending on your budget. It’s always worth considering what club representation you already have before picking the replacement – if you’ve held on to Eden Hazard during his injury setback, for example, then Ross Barkley offers less appeal. If you have a Manchester United midfielder other than Anthony Martial or Paul Pogba, then you’re either a Reds fan or on autopick from before the start of the season. If you’re reading this, log back in and sort yourself out.Burnley’s Gudmundsson looks like good value at £6.0m – the Icelandic wideman has managed four attacking returns in his previous six matches, while his set-piece deliveries always offer the promise of more.Burnley also have a decent run of fixtures, with points to play for against Leicester, Newcastle, Crystal Palace and Brighton in their next five games.Hold! Matt Doherty, Wolves (DF, £4.9m)Owned by: 16.3%Wolves have been impressive since making their return to the Premier League. Defensively, they’ve only conceded 12 goals in 11 games, which gives them the sixth-tightest defence in the top flight. That shouldn’t be that much of a surprise considering their return to the top flight was built on the back of a strong defensive platform – last season’s Championship winners logged 24 clean sheets over the campaign.Last season, Irish full-back Doherty chipped in with four goals and four assists, and thus was a favourite in our pre-season bargain guide. This season he already has a goal and two assists to his name, in addition to three double-digit hauls in FPL already. This week almost 35,000 managers have transferred Doherty out, though, and for the first time since Gameweek 4 he is being shifted more than he is signed. But why? He’s an attacking full-back under £5m with proven returns so far – so hold on to him.SEE ALSO 28 red hot Fantasy Premier League tips from old winners and expertsFantasyYIRMA started in 2012, focused on FPL news and previews.
