Johnson praises Lobov for honoring UFC Moncton promise
Artem Lobov apparently followed through with his promise to return Michael Johnson’s fine for missing weight at UFC Moncton.
TUF 12 alum Michael Johnson was forced to step in on short notice as an opponent for Artem Lobov at UFC Moncton’s co-headliner pairing late last month. “The Menace” tipped the scales at 147 pounds which warranted a fine, but Lobov was not too keen on taking that money from the get-go.
“I will say this: If he ends up not making weight, I will still take the fight, and I will let him keep his percentage because he took the fight on short notice,” Lobov told MMAjunkie during media day, one day before the weigh-ins.
“I’ll take (the money) and just give it to him.”
“The Russian Hammer” is apparently a man of his word, at least according to Johnson.
In my book respect is always earned, never given. Hats off to @rushammer for not only a tough fight our last outing, but also being a man of your word. Respect was earned, hands down. #victory #teammenace #securethebag #bagsecured #menacecity #ufc pic.twitter.com/ifEIBinr95

Lobov then issued a wordless response to Johnson’s kind words.

Johnson ended up winning the fight via unanimous decision, improving his win-loss slate to 19-13 (with 10 wins by stoppage). Lobov, meanwhile, is already on a three-fight losing streak, as he now holds a record of 13-15-1 (with 1 NC and six wins by stoppage).
