McGregor, Khabib enter settlement agreements with NSAC
It appears that Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov will settle their cases with the Nevada State Athletic Commission tomorrow, without being in attendance.
Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov will not be in attendance at the Nevada State Athletic Commission hearing tomorrow after all. The two men, who faced sanctions from the commission for their post-fight antics at UFC 229, have entered settlement agreements that are likely to be accepted by NSAC, according to the Las Vegas Review Journal.
NSAC executive director Bob Bennett relayed to LVRJ that the two men, along with Khabib cornermen Abubakar Nurmagomedov and Zubaira Tukhugov, entered settlement agreements. They will be reviewed and voted upon by five members of the commission tomorrow.
It’s unclear what the settlement agreements contain at this point, but a fine and suspension could be components. They have been temporarily suspended since the incident took place.
Nurmagomedov defeated McGregor in the main event of the November card, the biggest in the UFC’s history. Following the fight though, Khabib jumped into the crowd to attack McGregor training partner Dillon Danis, while McGregor got into a physical altercation with Abubakar and Tukhugov. Khabib’s full two-million dollar purse was initially held by NSAC following the event. They eventually released half of it, but are still holding the other half.
Tomorrow’s NSAC hearing will still have to deal with the Jon Jones saga. He is expected to be cleared of any punishment surrounding his multiple positive tests for long-term M3 metabolites of turinabol, and will be licensed to compete against Anthony Smith in Las Vegas in March.
