Model claims she can’t visit Egypt as she fears being attacked in street after Mo Salah tweet of support for team-mate Amr Warda

THE model who accused Egypt star Amr Warda of sending her sexual messages says she cannot visit the country because of Mo Salah.

Merhan Keller went public with what she claimed were inappropriate and aggressive messages sent to her on Instagram and WhatsApp.

She then went on to back up her own claims about being targeted by the 25-year-old with messages she said came from other women who had suffered similar treatment.

Warda was booted out of Egypt’s African Cup Of Nations squad – but team-mate Salah tweeted that he should he “shouldn’t be sent straight to the guillotine” and deserved a second chance.

Unsurprisingly the Liverpool’s stars comments did not go down well in may quarters despite him re-affirming that “women must be treated with the utmost respect” and that “no means no”.

And now, speaking to The Mirror, British-Egyptian Keller has admitted she is scared to visit the Middle Eastern country as she fears people will “attack her in the streets”.

She said: “This person (Salah) is God in Egypt. Literally. They don’t deal with him like a football player. He is God and he can do no wrong.

“This makes me in jeopardy. I cannot go to my country right now if I want to visit my family.

“People will attack me in the streets. You know how football fans are – ours are 100 times worse.

“What is shocking for me in the Mohamed Salah situation is that it had absolutely nothing to do with him.

“He is one of the most recognised figures in the world right now. This has pushed people to harass me even more.

WARDA BOOTED OUT

“You have no idea the amount of hate messages, threats and stuff that I am getting.

“It is horrible to see yourself in memes and in comics and having everyone making fun of you and swaying away from the main problem.”

Ward came on as substitute in the host nation’s opening game victory over Zimbabwe last week.

But hours before the country’s second game was due to be played he was removed from the squad by the national football association.

On Twitter, screenshots of messages and videos supposedly sent to women by Warda were shared – leading to the allegations becoming a major story in Egypt.

And after growing calls for the Egyptian FA to take action, they announced earlier today that Warda was no longer part of their squad.

Because of the nature of his exclusion, Egypt are unable to call up a replacement so will have to see out the remainder of the tournament with 22 players.
