Arsenal closing on £25m transfer for Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney as Emery wants new boy to join Gunners on pre-season tour in US
ARSENAL are closing on a deal for Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney, according to reports.
The Gunners are believed to have submitted a £20million offer plus add-ons for the Scot, which is now being considered by Bhoys chiefs.
According to the Sunday Post, the performance-related payments could take the total cost of Arsenal’s package even beyond Celtic’s £25m asking price.
The add-ons would depend on hitting targets such as Tierney’s appearances or the Gunners qualifying for the Champions League.
Unai Emery would also consider sending Carl Jenkinson to Glasgow in order to push the deal over the line.
Reports have claimed the defender returned to the UK yesterday to complete his move.
But Celtic manager Neil Lennon said Tierney, 22, had left the club’s training camp in Austria to continue rehab following last month’s double hernia surgery.
The Bhoys star, however, is expected to be fit in time for the start of the next Premier League season.
SunSport understand that Arsenal are determined to have their new boy in squad for their pre-season tour in the US.

He has made 170 appearances for Celtic, winning eight trophies while also earning 12 Scotland caps.
Should the deal go through, Tierney, 22, is set to become the most expensive Scottish player in football history.
His Arsenal switch would top Oliver Burke’s £15m move to RB Lepizig from West Brom in 2017.
