Ten years have passed since the Reggae Boys last beat Panama in June 2009. Keammar Daley scored a 90th minute decider to win, 3-2, and both teams had players sent off in the aftermath to finish with 10 men. Fans can only hope for as much excitement when the pair reunite in Philadelphia, though Jamaica will need to stop a run of six matches against Panama without a win (four defeats, two draws).
Panama lost, 1-0, against the United States in their final Group D match to finish second in the pool, though Jamaica will be wary of their two wins against Guyana and Trinidad & Tobago prior to that. Los Canaleros were without a win for 14 matches prior to the Gold Cup and have found their winning form at the most opportune time.
However, Jamaica has lost only three times in their last 16 matches and have a new weapon among their order in Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey. The speedster committed to Jamaica after a long deliberation period and will hopefully lead the charge to a semifinal berth.
