Daniyar Yeleussinov to face unbeaten American next!
Earlier today we were informed that unbeaten Kazakh fighter Daniyar Yeleussinov (7-0, 3) [Данияр Маратұлы Елеусінов] has finally had his next bout set, as he continues to develop his professional career and move towards bigger fights
The 2016 Olympic gold medal winner, who famously beat Anthony Fowler and Shakhram Giyasov in Rio, had long been pencilled in for the September 13th card at Madison Square Garden Theater, which will be headlined by Devin Haney taking on Zaur Abdullaev in a world title eliminator. Whilst he was known as fighting on the card his opponent wasn't known until earlier today.
According to Vesti.kz Yeleussinov will be facing fellow unbeaten Reshard Hicks (12-0-1, 6, an American 34 year old who really lacks any win of major note but should be coming to win, and defend his own unbeaten record.
The Kazakh been hoping to fight for titles earlier in the year but for whatever reason that has failed to materialise, however this will be his third bout of the year is a very credible step up from his last two bouts, which really were against over-matched foes who were there to make up the numbers. Hicks may not be there to make up the numbers, but we do suspect he will be out of his depth against someone with the skills and experience of Yeleussinov.
Interestingly Yelussinov is the second Central Asian fighter to be confirmed for this card, alongside Uzbek Murodjon Akhmadaliev (6-0, 5) who faces Daniel Roman (27-2-1, 10) for the the WBA" super" and IBF Super Bantamweight.
