Tonomoto and Motohashi make weight for Japanese Youth title fight
Tomorrow in Kishiwada fight fans will see Japanese Youth Featherweight champion champion Kyohei Tonomoto (9-2, 4) [殿本恭平] making his first defense, as he takes on Ryotaro Motohashi (9-1, 2) [本橋遼太郎]. On paper this is an interesting match up, without being a big fight and whilst it won't get much attention it should be a fight that allows the winner a launchpad a solid 2020.
Today the two men took part in their weigh in and both men made the 126lb Featherweight limit with no real issue.
On the scales Tonomoto made weight by weighing bang on the divisional limit whilst Motohashi was around 125.5lbs.
Despite weighing in well under the limit the challenger revealed he actually a chance to get a bit of a drink in the morning and it seems clear that he was very comfortable at the weight.
The winner here is expected to make inroads into the Japanese rankings and move towards a bout for the main Japanese over the next year or two.
