Pep Guardiola denies having secret clause in contract that lets him leave and insists he won’t quit Man City this summer
PEP GUARDIOLA has again insisted he will not walk away from Manchester City this summer.
There were fresh reports about the Spaniard’s Etihad future on Friday morning – with suggestions he has a break in his contract for this summer.
The former Barcelona boss played down the suggestions and pointed to his recent answers about his plans.
Last month, he said the only way he will leave is if his bosses decide they would like a new manager – something which seems almost impossible.
Asked about the latest reports, Guardiola said: “Not true. I spoke about that a few weeks ago – about my intentions for the club.”
In late November, the Guardiola responded to questions over his future by saying he was ‘incredibly satisfied’ to work
He said: “If the club wants me next season I want to be here 100%.
“If they decide the results are getting worse then they are going to take a decision, that’s normal.”
Meanwhile Guardiola explained why City’s players were absent from the club’s Christmas party on Thursday night.
The manager was unhappy with the players for staying out too late at last year’s event – and felt it affected their performances in the festive matches.
This time they were not invited to the function at a city centre nightspot.
